Strength:

Very deep, tight bass. Very accurate and very adjustable. Dolby THX movies come alive!

Weakness:

Rubber feet keep falling off when moved. Only stuck on with sticky stuff. Very heavy.

Works awesome with Infinity L30's and Paradigm CC375 and Monitor 9's. Keeps going when other sub's drop off and become muddy and distort. Highly recommend as a mid line sub.

Strength:

Great value, smooth lows, unabtrusive like my Hsu was.

Weakness:

Feet but you can always retro them later anyway.

Well my Hsu gave up the ghost. I needed a sub like..uh right now! I was going to try to fix the Hsu but the people whom I tried to info on were very difficult, so I said screw it, and went out looked for new and saw this Velodyne CT-120 and at the price I couldn't beat it, so I bought it. This is an unassuming looking box, with all the requisite controls in the rear. Level controls, bandpass controls, and auto trigger and power on and main power with gold plated RCA connections for inputs and outputs. High and low level are accomplished. So basically all the connections are for you coming and going. There is no excuse for not being able hook this guy up. Listening to DVD the EAGLES "TILL HELL FREEZES OVER", the sound is unabtrusive and while the extension is not as deep as my HSU, though it is smoother sounding than my HSU, plus I can't really localize the sound like my HSU. I just got this today and I must say that I am impressed so far. Mostly by how it doesn't get in my face and muddy up the music. Time will tell how it does on movies,so I got to say that even though I heard them at the store and was impressed with it then, so I hope I will be impressed in my listening room. I would like to thank Thang, Duke, and Ross at Sound Factor in Pasadena California. They have and do take care of me very well. If you get a chance, stop by and they'll take care you too. V.C.

Strength:

hits hard even when the volume control is low

Weakness:

distorts a too low of a frequency

This sub truly rocks! I have a huge JBL PSW-D115 that doesn't even compare to the ct-120. The ct has a very large magnet that is powered by 170(RMS)true watts. This makes for very explosive movie sequences. The front firing design really has an impact. I paid a very resonable price for mine ($489), but I would venture to say it is worth twice that. My other sub (JBL-D115) nearly dwarfs the ct in size, but they both produce about the say sound and feel. Compared to other subs in the same category as the ct-120, it is the best BANG! for your buck.

Strength:

Powerful and smooth bass without hiss and hum. Produces clean and crisp, intense sound at high volume

Weakness:

Tiny legs (?) included with sub. Velodyne could have done better than that.

What a great sub. The room where my setup is open around other rooms and still the sub worked awesome. I played this sub with movies (Matrix, Jurassic Park on DVD) and tried it with music (Bob Marley, Sade) and what a difference. I could not believe what I was missing, when I played this sub with movies walls rumbles and floors jolts with vibrations. The sub is worth an addition to fully optimized home theater. I had tried Infinity HPS-500 (won on ubid) and this Infinity would not produce anything when connected to my receiver (Pioneer Elite 26-TX). CT-120 rocked!

Before buying Velodyne I reviewed Paradigm PW-2200, it is good sub but is bulky and more expensive. I like what I paid for my sub it is definitely good value for money. Circuit City is selling this for $489 (At least in NY/NJ), I took an email from one of the NY dealers and they matched the price of $399.00 + 8.25% (NYC Tax). So shop around.

This thing is amazing. After I placed it correctly (in the corner, by my left front main) I only need to turn it up a quarter of the way. Otherwise, it's too much bass. It sounds soooo good with music and DVD movies. I hightly recommend this unit, it's worth it!

I love the CT-120. I owned an Infinity BU-2 for four years before it just mysteriously died. I was fairly happy with the BU-2,even though it was just a bit boomy, however, $500.00+ for a four year sub is unacceptable.
Ilove my CT-120 and am hoping it will have a longer life than BU-2 did.
I did a ton of research for 500.00 subs and the CT-120 won hands down. It's great for the deep bassed music that I listen to. I reccomend it over any 500.00 sub on the market, bar none.

Loud yet crisp bass at high volume levels

This sub has undergone tremendous abuse in my Fraternity house with extremely heavy bass at borderline ear damaging volume levels at our parties at for up to 7 hours at a time. Best sub we have ever purchased (we've destroyed quite a few.)

Velocity CT120 is an amazing subwoofer. This sub was recommended by a sales counselor at Circuit City and he was right on money. Though I'm a casual listener who happens to be profoundly deaf (and no, I don't listen to music) I bought the sub along with a Sony mid-range receiver to play the laserdiscs with DD 5.1. I played Forrest Gump (AC-3 Surround). I was blown away by the sub pounding sound effects during the Vietnam War sequences. Walls rumbles and floors jolts with vibrations. I can literally feel the lighty air vibration in my jeans a dozen feet from the sub on the right corner, a little farther off the wall. CT120 rocked! The sub is worth an addition to fully optimized home theater for the novice or intermediate with the budget (monthly payment plan recommended). A tad expensive for a single 12" subwoofer but it's worth having.

Strength:

Sound and construction quality
Performance bang for buck

Weakness:

None. However, I wish they would have a notch on the volume control so you can get a feel for it's setting.

This sub does everything consistantly well, both music and home theater. Seems to blend well with all other speakers (Polk RT7 and RT55)in my system.

My first sub was the Infinity BU 120, it lacked on musical applications yet worked pretty well for home theater. Although, I'd consider the BU 120 to be a "sub" standard sub, it really sold me on the importance of a subwoofer. Keeping this unit, I started looking for a sub which was more musical and purchased a Polk PSW 150. The Polk's sound quality was great (clean and smooth), but lacked power and I took it back after giving it a chance for a few weeks. My wife was pleased that I brought it back and applied pressure on me not to buy any more stereo stuff so I thought I was destined to have to live with this Infinity.

Well, luck be with me; the Infinity self destructed one night and at last I was justified in continuing my search for the perfect (within my price range) sub.

I settled on this Velodyne and it has proved to be one of the best audio puchases I've made. It does a masterful job handling both musical and home theater applications brilliantly. For the money, I think you be hard pressed to find another sub which performs as well as the Velodyne.

I heard someplace "If you know subwoofers, you know Velodye." Enough said.

this is a great sub.

i surveyed the reviews on this site prior to purchasing -- as well as listening to it at the local Circuit City.

i compared it to the ksw-10 and ksw-12 which were center firing, although this sub is forward firing.

an eBay seller lived close buy so i was able to purchase ct-120 from him at a good price.

great for movies like Independence Day and other action movies. it's got great sound for music too.

have it hooked up to my 6 year old Sony pro-logic system, but have Infinity speakers and it produces full body sound.

very happy with purchase -- even 5 months later.

i'm sure one can find a better sounding sub, but not at $400. one would end up spending over $800.
