Strength:

Picture is awesome. Easy to use. Enough inputs? I use 'em all. REmote is the best one in 2 inch TV sets.

Weakness:

The remote doesn't do DVD menu?

The only thin that i could use is another a/v connection on the back. DVD, digital cable, VCR, Playstation.. THey all look great. It would be nice to have a fancy cover for the front jacks, but its ok. The three line comb filter makes the picture so sharp and the component video is great also. The screen is fairly flat and the picture is nothing short of amazing.

Strength:

good picture for the price

Weakness:

crappy front speakers

This is a review for the 27D20 model. I picked it up for $329 at Sears. Major difference would be another set of input and PIP. Great picture quality for the price. Was going to spend extra $200 for a Wega, but I'll wait for the HDTV to go down.

Strength:

Component, S-Video, and AV inputs. I also like the ability to turn the TV speaker off and run it through my stereo.

Weakness:

None really!

I originally had the RCA 27" but it didn't have any inputs. I started looking at bestbuy.com and noticed how you can compare TV's and noticed that a Toshiba, Sharp and the Panansonic were comparable, but the Panasonic had component inputs and I was sold. I also liked the features, with 3 line comp filter 600 line of resolution and AV inputs on the front. Now I only wish I had a 32 inch screen, but for the living I sit in it is just fine.

Far as those other review with the squeeling sound. Well, my wife and I heard the first 10 minutes I turned it on, but then it went away and I haven't heard it since.

Strength:

Fetures which include PIP, component video inputs, and fixed audio outputs.

Weakness:

Remote is a little limited.

First let me start by saying that this is a review of the 2001 model, the CT-27D21. So far, I have not noticed any of the picture problems that have been noted in previous reviews. Don't know if I am just lucky or if this means that whatever the problem was, it isnt a problem on the D21's. I compared this TV side by side with the Toshiba 27A60 and chose this one due to the flatter tube and slightly deeper color. Not that the Panasonic has a "flat" screen, but I noticed that the Toshiba had more of a curve to it which really distored immages from the sides. But that like a lot of things with TV's is a matter of preference. So far, the picture is great for all sources, Cable TV, DVD, and Games. For what this TV has in fetures, it is a very good deal for the price.

Strength:

Good overrall picturer, good menu, remote, lots of video inputs

Weakness:

geometry problems, convergence, geen and pink bands

I am satisfied with the overall picture BUT, after I read some of the reviews I started to notice how my satellite guide was waving in on the sides, and how a lot of colour is pulled off the side. Also the left side of the TV is a greenish colour and the right side is more red. I am considering taking the set back and maybe try a Sony.

Strength:

Rich color and clean contrast. Component video-in. S-video in. Front and rear 1/4 input jacks.

Weakness:

Basic screen geometry problems and no way to adjust them.

In the store, I was impressed at the richness of the picture quality of this Panasonic CT-27D11, especially compared to other TVs in (and even above) this price range. Now that I've had a week to play with the set, I am bothered by several problems.

First: the picture tilts downward to the left by several degrees. This is VERY obvious when watching a letterboxed show or movie, and also with news tickers.

Second: I am also experiencing the pin cushion problem, but really this is only noticeable upon watching a DVD and reducing the zoom to to a smaller size -- you can then see how the picture bows slightly like this: ) ( .

Third: The picture SIGNIFICANTLY overscans the viewing area. Again, this is VERY obvious when you reduce the zoom on a letterboxed DVD and see how much image is STILL being cut off on the left and right. It's also obvious on a DVD set to the standard TV ratio. When reduced, it becomes apparent that you are losing picture on all four sides of the TV screen.

I have not yet decided if I will return this TV for another model. It is a real shame that there are no controls to fix these basic picture geometry issues, as these are standard controls on any computer monitor, and this would be the ONLY reason I would consider returning this otherwise excellent TV.

Strength:

Lots of inputs for a standard 27" tv. Easy-to-use on-screen menu. Remote is easy to use and comfy to hold. Flatter screen than most standard tvs. Quick channel changing (no delay like some stupid tvs). Headphone jack on front.

Weakness:

I haven't noticed any in the year that I've had it.

This review is for CT-27D10B (not sure if that's different from CT-27D10..?).

See above strengths.

This tv is a great buy for what it costs.

Strength:

Component video, S-Video, near-flat screen, price

Weakness:

Comb filter, geometry problems which are not fixable in the serviceman menu, slight discoloration in lower right left hand corner of the screen

I purchased the new CT-27D11 due to the number of features and the reasonable price. I stayed away from Wega type TV's due to the prices, and those silver cabinets.

The colors on this set are very nice, especially when using the component video inputs with your DVD player. It is important to remember that this set can appear harsh until you turn the picture/contrast down about halfway, and turn the brightness up to the lower 40's. With DVD, you also should turn your sharpness setting all the way down.

My complaints are with the comb filter which at times appears to make the picture look worse rather than better. Also, my horizontal size setting is set too high, and the service manual has no solution for this. When I pan left and right using the horizontal position setting, I see I am missing about 2 inches of the picture. I also have pincushion problems which are not covered in the service manual either. The discoloration in the corner of the screen is not noticeable unless you have a blue screen on.

Still a great value, but may need one trip to a servicer.

Strength:

features, remote, user friendly, color picture quality

Weakness:

geometric design flaw!!!!

Let me preface this review by stating that I am a perfectionist when it comes to audio/video components. Having disclosed this fact, just as others I have read on this site, I wanted to like this TV. The color picture is outstanding, it has a good remote, and I look the audio out features (you can select variable, fixed, or none while the TV remains hooked up to the receiver).
HOWEVER.....it may just be me, but I can not get beyond this geometry thing! I usually watch a lot of news and sports, and once I noticed how slanted the news and sports tickers were I could not keep the problem from bugging the __________ out of me. The problem seemed to be isolated to the very bottom of the picture, and I could not notice any problem whatsoever when there was no writing on the bottom of the TV screen.
The sad thing is I may not have noticed it to the degree I did had I not read about it on this website. I took the TV back and got the Toshiba 27A51 which has less features but a more precise picture (and cheaper price). If you would be bothered by slanted writing at the bottom of the TV screen, you may want to look at other TV's.

Strength:

somewhat flat screen, component input, A/V input (2), s-video input, sound quality, hearphone speaker plug, speaker quality

Weakness:

no pip, Volume adjustment

After much research, I narrowed down my choices to JVC D series, and Panasonic. Panasonic got it due to the deal I was able to get (599cdn - 10%, and another 10%)but finaly the image quality is better than the jvc "d" serie. I really likes this TV.
