Strength:

Flat screen, rich colors, brightness & contrast, sound

Weakness:

Needs another audio/video input on the back, choice of only grey/silver trim, picture tube is too long, remote could be better, too expensive

WOW!!! I used to have a 27'' inch TV but I got rid of that and bought this one (currently my viewing distance is about 8 feet) I have not hooked up a DVD player to it yet but I can tell you that after watching this TV you will probably never settle for less. The color separation is remarkable, white is white and black is black. Crip/sharp images. I paid about $425 and bought it from Circuit City.

You got to see this one to believe it!

Strength:

Incredible picture. Great sound quality

Weakness:

Ugly gray box. Can't put a VCR on top. Pricey.`

I've never seen a TV with better picture quality and sound than this Sony WEGA. When you're in a store looking at a wall of TVs, the WEGAS stand out from all the rest. I had given up on Sonys because I thought their technology was dated, and other companies had caught up to them. Well, with these new WEGAS, Sony has taken a giant step ahead of its competitors. Once again taking the lead. I highly recommend it.

Strength:

Flat screen, nearly perfect geometry. Very nice color, great with DVD.

Weakness:

Could use another video imput.

This model was a replacement for the last 20" Sony tv. After about six weeks and a few calls directly to Sony, they were still unble to find the problem with the old model. I told the repair shop they could keep it, so they waived the inpection cost.

Anyway, I have really enjoyed this television. I also own the KV-27FV15 and am glad that they were able to fix the geometry problems I've seen with the other model. I also like that you can adjust the picture for anamorphic squeeze if you know how to enter and work with the service mode. I feel that even at this size of screen, a 2.35 anamorphic pictue still looks great! Since my viewing space from the tv is about 6 feet away,I'm still able to see most of the details clearly.

I would also like to point out that I havn't experienced the audio problems that some of the other posts have mentioned fortunately. With either the sound turned to the lowest setting or during quiet moments of a show or movie, this tv is as quiet as a mouse.

Strength:

Picture quality, flat screen, S-video input, compact size (fits well in my dorm room).

Weakness:

Price (for a 20").

I picked this up for $340, which is a lot for a 20" but I needed a small TV for my dorm. It's hard to judge the picture quality based on the poor cable and cheap VCR I have connected, but the one DVD I've watched so far (S-video connected to computer using RealMagic Hollywood+ DVD decoder card) looked great. Watching other TV's now is a huge change, the curved screen never used to bug me much, but now it does. Can't comment on the sound because I have it connected to my receiver. Definitely worth the money if you have space only for a 20" unit.

Strength:

Awesome picture, great sound for tv speakers.

Weakness:

None that I can see.

I just got this TV today and I love it already! After about an hour of calibration it's the best picture I've ever seen. My set doesn't have geometry problems, brightness problems, or any other problems that people have reported. The tv looks awesome for Dreamcast games (esp. w/ the S-Video). All in all it's an excellent TV.

Strength:

Not figured out. This review is of the new model 20fv12.

Weakness:

NO sharpness, too bright..

O.k. this is the 3rd 20in wega set i had now. Luckliy i keep returning them before the 30 days is up. just got this new model fv12, No buzzing sound from the audio but the picture seems too bright, even when adjustments are made. It also could be a sharper picture, and notice alot of grain in the picture. some channels look a little better than others. I might return it, get another, if the other looks the same then thats just the way sony is making them this year. The first i got back in march looked fantastic. The comb filter made it look sharp and 3-Dish. after 5 days the sharpness went away. i got a second. that was worse. there was no sharpness. Now the 3rd doesn't look anything like the first one i got... Its the only 20in with a s-video jack. I hope someone can tell me why this is.

Strength:

Picture quality, flat screen, attractive cabinet

Weakness:

no component video input

I picked up this TV for about $400 a couple of months ago. It is expensive for a basic 20" TV, but well worth it. The only televisions I have seen that can compare in terms of picture quality are Sony's 19" reference studio monitors that cost many times the price of a WEGA. The sound is better than the average TV, but its still a TV (use your stereo if you care about sound). Highly recommended.

Strength:

Great for the bedroom. Teriffic color and picture. Had played flawless in the year that I have owned this little gem.

Weakness:

Lack of space on top of set for cable box or VCR

As you can see by the similar products in my household, I am a Sony fan. I bought this set to repace a 20" RCA set that was just three years old that I used in the bed room. The RCA ended up in the dumpster because of major tuner problems that was not worth fixing. When I first saw the 20" Wega, I was amazed by the sharpness of the picture and the amazing flat screen. The color reproduction on this set is just so natural and clear. Although this set cannot compare with my 36" XBR 400, it is a great TV for general use, especially in the bedroom or a small den area. I highly recommend its purchase.

Strength:

Best picture I've seen on a non-HDTV set.

Weakness:

Two major problems

The past 2 months have been nothing but a headache with this tv.

For some unknown reason the tv started to turn itself off. Usually at the worst times too (End of Sugar Bowl, Supper Bowl, good movies, etc.).

Have not been able to find any reason for this problem. Sony tech doen't give a ___ since I've had the TV for more than 90 days.

Another problem just surfaced that I hadn't realized was there. Since I got the tv, the s-video input was black sensitive. If more than about 80% of the picture was black, the tv would see a signal at all. Just displays the dumb "Video 1" in neon green. I at first thought this was inherent to the tv, but the problem mysteriously corrected itself for one day this week, now its back to usual.

Has anyone else had a problme like this?
